OPEN INVITATION
On behalf of the Canadian Polish Congress, Niagara District, I have the pleasure to invite you to a very special event commemorating the effort of the Polish, Canadian and American volunteers who joined the Polish army units formed in Niagara-on-the-Lake to help Poland in its struggle to regain independence in 1918. Many of the soldiers died of disease and never reached the land they vowed to free.
For over 90 years, the Polish Army Veteran Association from Buffalo, USA, and recently Canadian Polish Congress, District Niagara, has taken great pride in continuing the tradition that is very strong in everyone’s hearts. This year Pilgrimage will mark our 92nd anniversary of recruiting first Polish volunteers to the Kościuszko Military Camp in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Activities of this year’s Pilgrimage will begin at 12:00 AM on June 14/2009, with a military inspection of the Veterans’ organizations. Then a Catholic Mass will be celebrated at the cemetery chapel. Following the Mass, a parade will proceed to the Cenotaph, where wreaths are to be laid honouring those Polish and Canadian Volunteers who gave their lives for freedom. We shall remember them.
On behalf of the Polish Congress, District Niagara, I do thank you most sincerely for your time and consideration regarding our Pilgrimage.
Best regards,
Jacek Kaminski
President of Niagara District of Canadian Polish Congress
